Business Talks
A motivational speech
A careers lesson is the ideal opportunity for a representative from business to come in and give a short talk to your students about industry and the workplace. The talk could be general, focusing on employability skills or be more specific looking at a particular industry, for example, The I.T. sector.
How do they work?
A Business Talk can achieve a number of things:
- It can re-enforce to students that what is important in school is important to EMPLOYERS too. Punctuality, a positive attitude, meeting deadlines and upholding a quality standard of work are all necessities in the workplace.
- It can motivate and inform students; giving them a flavour of what a job in their business involves.
- Link to GCSE & Diploma projects and inform course work
Benefits to young people
- Provides a different perspective and adds relevance to subjects
- Encourages good habits
- Raises economic and industrial awareness
- Improves motivation and career aspirations
