A greater experience of the workplace…
Could you offer a placement in your company, once or twice a week
to a young person aged between 14 and 16 years? An extended Work
Experience placement prepares students for employment or training
in the future. It is not the same as part-time employment and does
not involve payment of wages.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The programme is designed for students in their last two years
of compulsory education. The students may be taking part in a vocational
course, studying one of the new GCSEs in vocational subjects or
they are simply not enjoying their experience of school and want
to experience the real ‘world of work’ once or twice
a week.
Employers are fully briefed on the individual circumstances of
each student and all students complete an Application Form that
is forwarded to the employer prior to the start of the placement.
Students attend school for the remainder of the week.
The placement is part of an agreed curriculum plan, and students
receive monitoring visits from a teacher to review progress and
set targets. The placement may last for several weeks or terms.
As in all placements Liverpool Compact EBP will complete the appropriate
health and safety assessments at your company on behalf of Liverpool
City Council.
