Professional Development for Teachers & Support staff
Spend a day in Industry and reap the benefits...
Whether you are an NQT, Mentor, experienced teacher or Senior Manager, a placement in a company, in a sector of choice, can enhance your teaching and learning:
How does it work?
Liverpool Compact EBP works with over 6000 businesses in Liverpool. We act as a bridge between schools and industry.
We have years of experience in planning placements for staff, Departments, or even the whole school on an INSET day!
Once a teacher has identified their learning objectives we will:
- negotiate a placement with a company and agree suitable timings
- set up a pre-placement meeting to discuss and finalise a placement programme
- support and evaluate the placement
Placements frequently lead to sustainable links with industry, which can give rise to a number of exciting projects for your school. For example – a follow up student visit to the company.
Enhancing knowledge via a Specific Industry
Teachers, especially those delivering practical GCSEs/ A’levels, BTECS and NVQs can benefit greatly from visiting relevant industries where they can update their own knowledge. You may also gather case study and stimulus materials for Pre and Post 16 study.
This can include subjects such as Food Technology, Media, Health and Social Care, Design Technology and Business Studies.
Supporting Leadership and Management
Senior and middle managers can benefit from placements in businesses where they can experience different styles of management and leadership at work.
Teachers may see different methods for managing teams, conflict and change, with new approaches being discussed. Practical examples will be given so that the teachers can return to school armed with this knowledge.
Updating Financial Capability and Business Understanding
In order to produce enterprising young people, staff need exposure themselves to business issues and perspectives. Enterprise should not be regarded as the preserve of the Business Studies or ICT department, but can apply across all subjects.
"This placement has helped to inform my HR working and I will use some of the best practice tips to improve performance."
