Business Role Models & Females in Business
Students from St John Bosco High School listening to inspirational speakers.
Where better to receive Careers Information, Advice and guidance from, than from a person who is in that profession!
How do they work?
We can arrange an Employer Talk. An employer will to come in to school and give a short talk to your students about the workplace. The talk could be general, focusing on employability skills, or be more specific to their industry or job role, for example, The I.T. sector.
OR... we can run a half day session that brings together a number of business people to answer questions about what they do for a living. Students question the speakers in an effort to deduce what their profession is, with some interesting results... The employers then reveal to students their job, how they progressed, the challenges they faced and advise on qualifications, skills and qualities needed for their role.
We also challenge stereotypes relating to career choices via our Females in Business event which follows a similar format to the above. Inspirational Women talk about their careers and offer advice.
A Motivational speaker can achieve a number of things:
- It can re-enforce to students the importance of punctuality, a positive attitude, meeting deadlines and upholding a quality standard of work.
- It can motivate and inform students; giving them a flavour of what a job in their business involves.
- A link to GCSE, BTEC & A'Level projects and can inform course work
- Open students' eyes to careers they may have previously discounted due to gender misconceptions!
Benefits to young people
- Encourages good habits
- Raises economic and industrial awareness
- Improves motivation and career aspirations
- A fun, informative Careers session that students learn from instantly
