The Enterprise Springboard Project is a structured programme which aims to give students a better understanding of the world of work.

 

It motivates Year 10 students who may lack self-confidence, career direction or even feel alienated and so be at risk of underachieving.

The project focuses on developing the self-confidence, self esteem, motivation and enterprise skills which are linked to employability.

It is designed to complement the work-related/ careers education programmes in school.

Each project can accommodate up to 20 students.

How does it work?

The 5 phases

The Enterprise Springboard Project incorporates 5 phases of activity which run over the course of the academic year (September - May)

PHASE 1 September / October -  Introduction

A Teacher induction to the programme, covering Aims, Objectives, and Outcomes for participating students.

PHASE 2 October / November / December - Industry Visits

An industrial visit is arranged so that students can identify how a business is structured, this includes a tour of the organisation and the opportunity to talk to staff about their roles and areas of responsibility.

PHASE 3 January/ February - Skills workshop

A full one-day workshop, held off-site, which focuses on the development of teamwork, leadership and communication skills.

PHASE 4 February - May - Enterprise project

This phase is undertaken over a period of 8-12 weeks. Students determine, plan and organise visits to research their chosen subject. They then share this information with their group.

PHASE 5 Celebration in May

A high-profile event at which students present their work to invited guests and receive their certificates and school awards.
