Enterprise & Industry Placements for teachers

Host a teacher for a day!

OFSTED recommends that ALL teachers should have the opportunity to learn more about business and the workplace. Be it the financial sector, the leisure industry, construction or the Arts.

Could you host a teacher? Companies benefit from the experience too! That’s why we are able to arrange placements for around 300 teachers every year!

HOW DO PLACEMENTS WORK?

Our Professional Development Manager works closely with teachers in Liverpool to establish their areas of interest and then sources companies who are willing to host one or even a group of teachers for a day.

Normally the placement is related to the teacher’s subject area. For example, Food Technology teachers may wish to be placed with a Food Manufacturer, or Science teachers may find it useful to spend the day in a Chemical Plant. However, some teachers prefer to spend their placement focusing on management practices in industry. They may look at appraisal systems, management techniques or training and development within a company.

We then negotiate a convenient date for a placement and suggest a programme for the day.

BENEFITS TO YOUR BUSINESS

  • Teachers will relate their experience to their students, colleagues and friends, influencing people who are YOUR potential customers or employees
  • Raises your company’s profile in the community
  • An opportunity for your staff to develop their presentation skills

“At Laing O’Rourke we have a vision to challenge and change the image of construction worldwide. By supporting placements for teachers here in Liverpool we can liaise with schools, informing them of various projects and give teachers an insight into career opportunities.”
