Six challenging targets, preparing young people for work
Equipping them with the skills they need to get a job!

STUDENT TARGETS:

Proving My Reliability

1. I will strive towards 100% attendance and punctuality during Years 10 and 11. (This is something that employers expect)

Time Management

2. I will complete all required coursework and assignments on time and to the standard set by my teachers. (Meeting deadlines is vital in the workplace)

Academic Achievement

3. Be on target to achieve a minimum of 2 graded results in formal GCSEs and/or vocational examinations.

Preparation for employment

4. I will prepare myself for work by successfully completing:

  • A full Work Experience programme or a tailored Work Related Learning Plan.
  • A programme of Careers education and guidance including Enterprise and Financial Capability as well as Business and Economic Understanding.

(Employers are impressed by new recruits who already have some work experience and knowledge of business)

Developing Key Skills for employment

5. I will be able to demonstrate my abilities in the Key Skills of :
*Communication * Maths * I.C.T.* *Personal Skills (including Team-working and independent learning) * Problem solving and Decision Making.*
(These skills are important to Employers)

Documenting my Achievements

6. I will document evidence of my Skills 4 Employment achievements in my Progress File. (Keeping a record of your experience and skills plus the enterprise & business workshops you have attended in and out of school is very important. It shows employers what you have learnt and indicates your potential)

Successful students become graduates and are awarded their “Skills 4 Employment Certificates” at a high profile, annual graduation ceremony.
