  Student Apprenticeships

“Student Apprenticeships” is a new and exciting programme that places a Year 12 or 13 student in a local company once or twice a week to help them gain

  • industry-recognised training
  • experience
  • qualifications gained “on-the-job” (usually NVQ2 & 3) while still following a programme of study in school.

How does it work?

If you decide to put forward students for this programme

Liverpool Compact EBP will:

  • Provide schools with a list of approved vacancies for YOUR students
  • Provide a short period of student preparation
  • Support schools through regular Network meetings.

All Student Apprentices:

  • Receive a job description
  • Complete an application form and/or letter of application to the employer
  • Require an interview

Successful students will receive:

  • An Apprenticeship Agreement, signed by the school, the employer, themselves and their parents/carers. This details:
    • A period of probation (one half term)
    • An Individual Learning Plan covering the period of the apprenticeship which outlines:
      • On-the-job training with the employer
      • On-the-job assessment arrangements
      • Work-based accreditation/qualifications available
      • Off-the-job learning arranged by the school
      • Any other additional support.
    • The duration of the apprenticeship (minimum 1 year)
    • The likely or probable progression routes into employment or further learning
    • The provision of careers advice before both joining and leaving the programme.
