Industry Placements for Sixth Form students
Do you have Year 12 or 13 students who would benefit from a long term Work Experience Placement with an employer?
We can help.
They may be studying a BTEC, NVQ, ILEX or other industry qualification, or indeed
A ’Levels.
With Youth Unemployment at 1.2 million* and at a record high since 1992, with more than one in five 16-24 year olds out of work, Liverpool Compact EBP recognises how it is more important than ever to equip your students with employability skills.
A placement with a company, 1** day a week for a term, or even a year, will enhance their learning and give your students a head start when they enter the job market or apply for College or University as they will have more than qualifications, they will have gained experience of industry!
Securing placements for students is difficult and time consuming. We have excellent employer links and could source a suitable employer in a relevant sector, be it Health, Business, Travel & Tourism, Law etc to provide placements for your students. This will give them valuable work experience and increase their skill levels and enthusiasm as they learn about their subject with a’ hands on’ approach!
How does it work?
Once we have had an initial conversation and you have identified the student or students, it is important to give us some background information about them and their course requirements in order for us to approach an employer to organise a bespoke placement.
Please complete the On-line Application form on this page as soon as possible for each student and send it to us so the process can commence.
When you access the Application Form you will notice there is a downloadable document also. Please print off the forms enclosed for the student and their parents/guardians to sign, giving their consent to participate in this programme and to state any medical conditions. There is also and Equal Opportunities Form.
We require 10-12 weeks notice from School to organise placements, from the date we receive the Online Application Forms.
We will then:
- Meet a member of the Sixth Form Department & the student/s (if required) to discuss their interests and the areas of learning the student/s need to receive direct experience in
- Source the employer and relay the student’s requirements
- Conduct a full Health & Safety Assessment and Employer CRB check if deemed appropriate
- Undertake the regular Health & Safety re-visits and monitoring as required for the risk banding of the placement and report any new findings to school
- Undertake Safeguarding Training with the employer
- Liaise with the employer and school throughout the placement
It is School’s responsibility to monitor the student’s learning progress throughout the placement.
