“Student Apprenticeships” is a new and exciting programme
that places students in Years 12 or 13 in a local company once
or twice a week to help them gain
- Industry-recognised training
- Experience
- Qualifications gained “on-the-job” (usually NVQ2 & 3) while
still following a programme of study in school.
Could your company benefit from a bright and enthusiastic apprentice
working with you twice a week?
HOW DOES IT WORK?
If you wish to be involved in this scheme, and once you have identified
apprenticeship opportunities, Liverpool Compact EBP will:
Visit you to
- Explain the system and the benefits to you and your company
- Undertake a Health & Safety check
- Negotiate a Job Description and Person Specification
with you
- Advertise your “Vacancy” in Liverpool schools
- Issue
the ‘Apprenticeship Agreement’ to the successful
candidate(s). This will detail content, duration and frequency
of the Apprenticeship placement. This is signed by you, the student
and the student’s parents/carers. An ‘Individual Learning
Plan’ is then negotiated between yourself and the student.
- Be available to offer advice to you throughout the duration
of your involvement with the Student Apprenticeship scheme.
WHY SHOULD I GET INVOLVED?
By being involved in a Student Apprenticeship placement you will
be
- Providing your industry with a pool of potential recruits who
- are well qualified
- have received basic training
- have demonstrated their skills
- have demonstrated their commitment and reliability.
- Providing your staff with development opportunities as
they supervise the student(s) day to day
- Helping to influence the learning of young people
and shaping the future workforce
